And just like that, many of my current team members and I have been together here at Print+Promo and Promo Marketing for more than a decade. We have grown up together in a sense, celebrating some of life’s major milestones. There have been marriages, babies and other “life stuff”—the good and the bad.
I honestly can say that working with this group of professionals has been an honor and privilege. This is a team that I have been proud to go into battle with year after year.
Team building is talked about as one of the most important elements in any business. Creating an environment where everyone understands the goals, the effort it will take to achieve those goals and their individual roles in making it happen is paramount. It also takes great leadership to manage the team and all the puzzle pieces that make up that team.
For me, I view teams in business like a football coach, understanding the skill set of each player. You can’t have a football team of all quarterbacks, all wide receivers or all defensive linebackers, or you surely will lose. It takes great leadership to identify and place a pro at the helm of each position, to drive the ball down the field, and, equally defensively, to stop the competition from scoring.
With the above in mind, as the coach of your team, each player has a clearly defined idea of his or her roles and responsibilities, know the target goals, receives feedback on when targets are being met (and when they aren’t), and, of course, celebrates successes when they occur.
So, once again, I’d like to give a shoutout to each one of you for your continuous achievement, creativity and hard work.
